A little rain…

Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning … we had a little rain!

Tuesday evening was a teaser of drops here and there … blech!!

And Wednesday morning started the same, but then some drizzle and finally some light, gentle, but steady rain!

For almost 2 hours.

I moved everything off the front porch to catch the rain…

It is incredible what rain will do that watering does not. And especially because I water with untreated well water, i.e. rain water filtered by 200 feet of ground. I don’t understand, but a little time in real rain makes a HUGE difference!

Hee… my first home grown tomato! One of the Husky Cherry tomatoes.

I picked it!!

And also some basil…

And made the world’s smallest Caprese Salad: bite sized, but delicious!

A little rain!

Don’t think I would have had the patience to make the salad, would have eaten the tomato as soon as it was picked! Nothing better than a tomato right off the vine..

Ha!! I did struggle as I sniffed the tomato and it smelled SO GOOD so I knew it would be delicious … but I had the mini-salad in mind and the basil smelled good also … what I did was to slice a bit off each end (it is a largish cherry tomato) and ate those bits while I messed with getting the little salad ready to photograph.

That salad looks delicious as well as very artistic. I would like some rain. It is 41C here and hasn’t rained for a long time so the fire risk is very high. It is also too hot to do much!

I’ve not made the Caprese Salad previously and it actually did not really appeal, but I was wrong! It is very good – the fresh tomatoes and fresh basil go wonderfully with the fresh Mozz! It is supposed to be buffalo mozz, but I had cow’s milk mozz :) I hope you get a break in your heat – SOON!!
