It is cold

Between the time I took the capture and as I am writing … it has dropped to -8F.

It is cold here.

I have a knee length down coat.

And a scarf.

And Sorel boots.

I can walk outside, wrapped up, and actually comfortable!

The issue, though is on the unwrapping…

The issue is HAT HAIR!!!

As a local colleague noted: “Hat hair….got to be thankful for our first world problems! hah!”

Yes.

A first world problem.

Still…

It is cold.

Back Ends

The weather has been all over the place!

Cold.

Snow.

VERY cold.

Warm-ish.

Cold.

And Work: intense-ish.

Christmas Prep: no sweets :( BUT, lots of crackers to go with cheese to go with smoked salmon – YEA!

Meanwhile…

A morning march in the no snow zone.

Beardog point.

Back ends.

Bear in the snow

We’ve had snow and cold: cold as in an almost constant temp of 10F give or take a few degrees. The snow has been coming in small bits: 1-2-3 inches at a time. And being so cold, the snow is light and powdery so settles into less with a little time. Currently, there is about 8 inches of settled, powdery snow in the woods.

Bear is loving it!

Waiting to go for a walk…

… and waiting…

… and waiting for me to catch up!

Snow end to the week!

Less than a week ago I was sort of complaining about our slow start to winter.

The next day we had just short of four inches of snow and cold temperatures and away we go with Winter in Northwest Montana!

This morning:

We woke to a new four inches of snow and it was still snowing.

It has been cold.

Not SUPER cold, but below freezing and nights near zero with daytime temps in the teens.

This is round 1 in what NOAA advertises as a “Prolonged Snow Event”.

Hee.

The snow stopped about 10:00 a.m.

I cleared about 3/4 of the drive and turn around.

Temps warmed to a balmy 19F!!!

There is enough snow to break out the short ‘shoes and start making tracks on the game trails.

HOO RAH!
