Sunshine and terror in the bathroom sink

It has been gray with freezing fog and the occasional sun break, but today was mostly sunny after starting with snow flurries that left less than half an inch of new snow.

It might not look like it to the east…

But overhead and to the west, blue sky!

Auggie hunted critters in the snow…

…and the Auggie-shark lied in wait to scare the unsuspecting intending to brush their teeth!

Testing, testing

First work week of 2014.

Finally have my Windows 8.1 computer set up with all software…mostly.

This is the first post on the new machine AND with the current Photoshop CC.

CC = Creative Cloud = ???

I haven’t dealt with the several PS plug-ins that I have and so made my little tweaks manually.

Also a new version of my FTP software which is the thing that I use to send the photos to the blog.

AND, I got a new phone, also Windows 8. That has nothing to do with this post except that I’m a little overwhelmed with new stuff this week.

Mostly it went well. I had a little glitch with my email setup on the phone resulting in 1 lost email after a skim at the grocery – sorry Margaret! – but learned some things in the process (IMAP4 NOT Pop3 on Windows Phone!).

So, here goes…a few photos from today – a messy, slushy, 38F, blustery day…with some blue sky and sun by afternoon.

Outside

To set the stage:

Thursday and Friday, nearly a constant 37F, but the ground is frozen so melting snow = ICY PUDDLES!

But, outside we must go!

Bear and I stuck to the north side of the property – more snow, less ice.

Tough guy Auggie, he did NOT let a bit of ice or ice water stop him.

Ahoy, there…

The dog is out there.

I am sneaky cat.

I am VERY sneaky cat.

Get ready, DOG!

Yes, well…he is the big brother…

But the chase is the thing :) !!

And then it started to snow.

A good thing.

Hopefully, the snow will combine with the puddles and give the ground a bit of “texture” making this evening and tomorrow’s walking a bit easier.

Full of beans

Actually, I am full of Black-eyed Peas.

Being a die-hard Yankee from a completely Yankee family, we didn’t do Black-eyed Peas on New Year’s Day, but I saw Homesick Texan’s New Year’s Day Migas with Black-eyed Peas and Bacon and decided to give it a try this year.

Black-eyed Peas on New Year’s Day are supposed to ensure a prosperous year. A girl can always use a bit more of the ready, but actually, I would love if the prosperousness came in the way of good health for Auggie, Bear and me for this year!

There was also a recipe on Lisa’s blog for Black-eyed Pea and Chorizo soup

I decided if one meal of black-eyed peas was good, a second would be even better.

You can’t see the peas, but they are in there!

Both meals were delicious. I’m full.

Auggie was trying to catch up on sleep… Our down the road neighbor that can’t celebrate the 4th of July or New Year’s Eve without LOUD fireworks, kept us up until past midnight.

It will be an early night tonight as we all need to catch up.

So much for the dog bed

Bear and I took a tromp through the woods.

Auggie came out while Bear was having an after walk treat.

It started to snow.

We all came inside.

I was watching TV in the living room.

At a break, I noticed it was very quiet.

This is the first that Auggie has napped on the bed during the day.

Another sweet moment.
