October Snow

From a late warm/hot Summer/Fall to suddenly Fall…

On the way to town this morning, the clouds were low over the mountain tops.

Last night, I looked at the Glacier National Park web cams to see if there was snow in the park. It had rained at my house all day with the temperature hovering at 45F so I thought…snow up high… I saw nothing.

But on the way home this morning, I looked to the east and was surprised to see snow under the lifting clouds!

It poured rain the whole live long day.

My work week was very productive, very frustrating, fun…and I’m glad it is over until Monday :)!

The woods on this rainy day was so beautiful. I walked through it when out with Bear and wished I could take photos of the rain drops on the dripping moss, the bark of the Aspen, the neon green of the lichen against the black of the decaying tree stumps… It is raining too hard to take the camera into the woods.

Watching Bear in the rain…he starts out slow with his ears down…then gets interested in his usual spots and forgets about the rain…until suddenly he is just too wet – a nose to tail tip violent shake and then a run for the door and inside. He seemed mystified that the squirrels were not in their usual places. I tried to tell him that they were in their hidey-holes warm and dry.

Bob…he spent some time outside as well even though I had heat on in his end of the house, fleece blankies scattered around…

Now, rain on the roof, against the kitchen light tube and on the floor near me…the roof leak(s) that has (have!) existed since I’ve been here despite my and several other’s inspection of the roof. This little house needs a new roof…maybe next year.

Time to call it a day. Bear and I have had our last outing and he has gone to bed. Bob waits for me. The kettle is on for a bedtime brew.

It is finally feeling AND looking like Fall with cool temperatures, cloudy skies and much needed rain.

An intense work week.

RV maintenance…jump start…RV back to the shop.

A mouse in the house!!

Still…All is well, good and happy here.

Saturday Evening

Saturday evening, just before 8:00 p.m.

Bear and I were outside for a last patrol before bedtime. The sky was clear and the waxing crescent of moonshine was low in the sky on its way to moonset. It was so clear and bright that I toyed with the thought of taking the Jeep to the spot on the road home in an hour or so to see what things might look like – a crescent moon setting.

But, I was ready to call it a day so contented myself with photos from the yard.

Bear by the light of the crescent moon…actually his lighted collar :)!

***Bear has adjusted to wearing the collar and appears to have no problem navigating the woods in the dark of morning and evening. I did have to get him his own as Karl’s was too big and no good way to adjust it small enough. BUT, the old company was gone and this collar is from Firefly K9 Products – it is made much better. This weekend we tried on our hunter orange wear…had to order Bear his own orange as well.
