Video: Morning snowshoe walk

A video! I took this – video at the end – earlier this week before we had a bit of a melt. As noted previously, video is not my favorite thing … I don’t do it well and struggle with editing … primarily because I haven’t spent time to learn. But also because I tend to like the subtle story telling of still photos.

However, some of the action stuff is fun – particularly Auggie, who is often like a “speeding bullet” and also very vocal … about everything!

The people I know, who do some video and might assist, all use iMovie on Apple operating systems. My only Apple device is my phone. I intended to use some of my Christmas holiday break to work through some tutorials and negotiate a bit of the video editing learning curve but kept putting it off and mission NOT accomplished

But, this morning, I did a search for “iMovie for Windows” and found a product that is supposed to be close-ish as in ease of use and powerful features.

Yea!

A promise of 30 minutes. A fun looking interface. I was all in.

I watched a quick tutorial and added my video. And then … AND THEN … it didn’t need editing! I was thinking that there were points where I turned or stumbled or talked baby talk that I wanted to edit out, but it turned out that I was ok with the entire thing. Maybe that is a good first try. The software does seem easy to use. I have some other videos that I KNOW need editing so I’ll take a whack at them.

But meanwhile…nearly 5 minutes of Bear, Auggie and I tromping through the snowy woods. I don’t want to oversell this – it is a simple walk :) !!

One of the stars after we “wrapped” filming…

… just hanging out!

And the other star … lying low.

Liz, you did a great job with the video. I really enjoyed coming along for the walk! What beautiful scenery.
It’s nice to see how Auggie and Bear are so comfortable with one another.

      Steph,

I always think of you when taking video! As in to focus on keeping the camera steady so as not to make you/anyone motion sick :). It is helpful and of course, always nice to think of you!

And the scenery… it is easy to take it for granted at times or to let the “stuff” of life interfere, but taking photos or video or sometimes just thinking about photos and video … it reminds me how beautiful my surroundings are. The woods and rural scenery/rural life might not be for everyone, but it is right for me.

That was a lot of fun! I can’t believe Auggie just walks / runs around in the snow like that. It is so beautiful in your woods and a wonderful place to go outside and enjoy the natural environment. We had about that much snow here a couple of weeks ago and everything closed down because we have no facilities for snow. The roads, schools, university and a lot of businesses just closed down for a week. It was cold – down to -11C so it didn’t melt, in fact there are still some piles here and there.
I hope you make some more videos!

I know – that Auggie! He loves to come with us and I think sometimes braves cold, snow and rain just to be along. He does go off and out on his own for short times … in all weather, but rarely misses a walk unless I keep him in which I did when it was super cold. On the walks, if he gets uncomfortable he will occasionally run for the house and watch us from his window “tree” – so funny as I can see his mouth moving as he meows to us.

Glad you got to enjoy some snow, Margaret. I know inconvenience and expense of heat but an occasional dose with enforced “vacation” is not all bad :)
