While not completely unheard of for a bird to hit one of the windows, it doesn&#8217;t happen all that often.  After the 3rd or 4th hit, I started looking around.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"Birds\" href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar09\/Finch8697FinchesLg.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar09\/Finch8697Finches457375.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" alt=\"\" height=\"375\" style=\"width: 457px; height: 375px\" title=\"\" class=\"center\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The yard was full of these guys &#8211; not a sharp photo as they don&#8217;t sit still!  Despite the fact that I have a recent edition of Peterson Field Guides: Western Birds, I have not yet identified a bird correctly on this blog.  But, going out on a limb (hee!), I think these are finches, specifically White-winged Crossbill Finches.  I await correction&#8230;  They are tiny &#8211; about nuthatch size although the more rounded shape of a gold finch, smaller than a junco.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"Birds\" href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar09\/Finch8701TreeLg.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar09\/Finch8701Tree450659.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" alt=\"\" height=\"659\" style=\"width: 450px; height: 659px\" title=\"\" class=\"center\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not a bird watcher per se although I love watching the birds of prey and hummingbirds and it has been interesting to see birds on their migration spring and fall.  <\/p>\n<p><a target=\"Bob\" href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar09\/Finch8706BobALg.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar09\/Finch8706BobA600400.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" alt=\"\" height=\"400\" style=\"width: 600px; height: 400px\" title=\"\" class=\"center\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bob was interested.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"Bob\" href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar09\/Finch8707BobBLg.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar09\/Finch8707BobB600400.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" alt=\"\" height=\"400\" style=\"width: 600px; height: 400px\" title=\"\" class=\"center\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That is a tail in mid-thwap.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center-noborder\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar09\/Spacer65050.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" alt=\"\" height=\"50\" style=\"width: 650px; height: 50px\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center-noborder\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar09\/EndofPost64050.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" alt=\"\" height=\"50\" style=\"width: 640px; height: 50px\" title=\"\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While working this afternoon 3 or 4 birds flew into the sunroom\/office windows in fairly short succession.
