Real rain as in not just mist or rain that lasts 2 minutes.  <\/p>\n<p>It was dark and off and on rainy on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Friday, it rained all day.  <\/p>\n<p>It didn&#8217;t pour, it was a nice gentle, soaking rain.  I felt like things were damp enough that I could have a fire in the woodstove.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2719.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2719.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So I did.  <\/p>\n<p>First fire of this Fall-Winter season.  <\/p>\n<p>And as it was Friday and we had our Friday work session early, i.e. my time was flexible for the rest of the day &#8230; I had my lunch in front of the fire.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2722.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2722.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not everyone was as thrilled as me about the rain.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2724.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2724.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Especially Auggie.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2725.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2725.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oh, dear &#8230; seriously sad face.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2726.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2726.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But on the bright side, there was a warm fire to curl up in front of&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2728.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2728.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; or to be silly in front of.<\/p>\n<p>And then today&#8230; more rain.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2762.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2762.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Maybe if I don&#8217;t look, it will go away&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I was grateful for an excuse to avoid yard work.<\/p>\n<p>I baked &#8211; perfect occupation for a dark and rainy day!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2757.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2757.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sourdough crackers &#8211; this <a title=\"recipe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kingarthurflour.com\/recipes\/sourdough-crackers-recipe\" target=\"recipe\"><font color=\"#424ff1\">recipe<\/font><\/a> uses starter that is unfed and to be discarded.  One of the things I find difficult about the maintenance of the sourdough starter is the &#8220;throw away half and feed more&#8221; part of it &#8211; particularly the &#8220;throw away half&#8221; part.  I saw this recipe and not only does it use a good amount of discard starter, but it makes great crackers &#8211; YEA!<\/p>\n<p>Usually Thanksgiving creeps up on me and then it is only 4 weeks until Christmas and I feel like the holidays are over before I have had time to anticipate, prepare and enjoy.  But, this year, I am ready.  It feels holiday-like already. <\/p>\n<p>I wanted something molasses-gingery.<\/p>\n<p>The biscotti jar has been empty for a good while.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2764.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Oct15\/Fire2764.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Gingerbread Currant Biscotti\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tasteofhome.com\/recipes\/gingerbread-currant-biscotti\" target=\"Gingerbread Currant Biscotti\"><font color=\"#424ff1\"> Gingerbread Currant Biscotti<\/font><\/a>.  They are pretty good.
