I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain
\nI’ve seen sunny days that I thought would never end… James Taylor<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Finally, rain! Real rain as in not just mist or rain that lasts 2 minutes. <\/p>\n

It was dark and off and on rainy on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Friday, it rained all day. <\/p>\n

It didn’t pour, it was a nice gentle, soaking rain. I felt like things were damp enough that I could have a fire in the woodstove.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So I did. <\/p>\n

First fire of this Fall-Winter season. <\/p>\n

And as it was Friday and we had our Friday work session early, i.e. my time was flexible for the rest of the day … I had my lunch in front of the fire.<\/p>\n

Not everyone was as thrilled as me about the rain.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Especially Auggie.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Oh, dear … seriously sad face.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But on the bright side, there was a warm fire to curl up in front of…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

… or to be silly in front of.<\/p>\n

And then today… more rain.<\/p>\n

“Maybe if I don’t look, it will go away”.<\/p>\n

I was grateful for an excuse to avoid yard work.<\/p>\n

I baked – perfect occupation for a dark and rainy day!<\/p>\n

Sourdough crackers – this recipe<\/font><\/a> uses starter that is unfed and to be discarded. One of the things I find difficult about the maintenance of the sourdough starter is the “throw away half and feed more” part of it – particularly the “throw away half” part. I saw this recipe and not only does it use a good amount of discard starter, but it makes great crackers – YEA!<\/p>\n

Usually Thanksgiving creeps up on me and then it is only 4 weeks until Christmas and I feel like the holidays are over before I have had time to anticipate, prepare and enjoy. But, this year, I am ready. It feels holiday-like already. <\/p>\n

I wanted something molasses-gingery.<\/p>\n

The biscotti jar has been empty for a good while.<\/p>\n

Gingerbread Currant Biscotti<\/font><\/a>. They are pretty good. They are especially good dunked in hot, spiced apple cider.<\/p>\n
