{"id":15749,"date":"2015-03-28T11:32:16","date_gmt":"2015-03-28T17:32:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/theroadhome\/?p=15749"},"modified":"2015-03-29T06:25:13","modified_gmt":"2015-03-29T12:25:13","slug":"ending-the-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beardogco.com\/theroadhome\/2015\/03\/ending-the-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Ending the week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar15\/Week1065.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar15\/Week1065.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After rain and snow and more rain, Friday started with fog which gave way to sunshine and an afternoon temperature of 62F &#8211; a Spring day!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar15\/Week1053.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar15\/Week1053.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And after my brief foray into packaged food, I got back on my &#8220;make it from scratch&#8221; path and made my own taquitos (<a target=\"Baked Breakfast Taquitos\" href=\"http:\/\/www.leeshandlusrecipebox.com\/2015\/02\/baked-breakfast-taquitos.html\" title=\"Baked Breakfast Taquitos\">Baked Breakfast Taquitos<\/a>) for breakfast.<\/p>\n<p>Last night a cold (well, cooler) front whooshed through.  I heard a bit of thunder in the wee hours and this morning is gray, rainy and blustery.<\/p>\n<p>So, I decided on a bit of lemony &#8220;sunshine&#8221; in the form of Lemon Sticky Buns.  I&#8217;d seen <a target=\"Mel\u2019s Kitchen Caf\u00e9\u2019s Lemon Sticky Buns\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.melskitchencafe.com\/glazed-lemon-sticky-buns\/\" title=\" Mel\u2019s Kitchen Caf\u00e9\u2019s Lemon Sticky Buns\"> Mel\u2019s Kitchen Caf\u00e9\u2019s Lemon Sticky Buns<\/a> and they were on my list of things to try.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar15\/Week1067.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar15\/Week1067.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mine are not as pretty as Mel&#8217;s since I used a mix of whole wheat pastry flour along with the white flour (1\/4 whole wheat pastry flour, 1\/2 white pastry flour and 1\/4 all purpose white flour) so my rolls are light brown vs white.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar15\/Week1071.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar15\/Week1071.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But, they are good and tender and flaky! And next time, I am going to try adding some dried blueberries.  Currants would be good also.  Or dried tart cherries&#8230;  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar15\/Week1070.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar15\/Week1070.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lemon Sticky buns &#8230; a nice bit of lemony sunshine on a gray and rainy weekend morning.<\/p>\n<p>***I also subbed goat cheese for cream cheese in the glaze.  I&#8217;ve subbed goat cheese for cream cheese before.  I use a mild goat cheese &#8211; the logs from Costco and I like it better than cream cheese in whatever.
