{"id":15286,"date":"2014-11-17T18:30:42","date_gmt":"2014-11-18T00:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/theroadhome\/?p=15286"},"modified":"2014-11-17T18:30:42","modified_gmt":"2014-11-18T00:30:42","slug":"south-fork-to-cortez-co-return-trip-day-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beardogco.com\/theroadhome\/2014\/11\/south-fork-to-cortez-co-return-trip-day-1\/","title":{"rendered":"South Fork to Cortez, CO:  Return trip Day 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wolf Creek Pass, Canyonlands\/Arches, Utah, Idaho, MT was the winner in my personal route lottery.<\/p>\n<p>After topping propane and gas, I went off route to a nice rest stop for a late morning walk with Bear and an early lunch to allow Wolf Creek Pass to be dry versus &#8220;Icy spots&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>It was dry.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9104.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9104.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was beautiful!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9105.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9105.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Because of the grade, it was a slow-go but not much traffic and good road conditions&#8230;my third RV trip over Wolf Creek Pass was great.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9109.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9109.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Later&#8230;along the way.<\/p>\n<p>Beautiful!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9112.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9112.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Parked in Cortez.  There is a local tuxedo cat that is attracting the attention of Auggie and Bear.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9117.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9117.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alpenglow from the RV park.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9118.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Nov14\/Cortez9118.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gorgeous color and a jet trail to the west.<\/p>\n<p>South Fork to Cortez.  <\/p>\n<p>A beautiful day on the road, but bittersweet as I miss my Mama, Bill, Barely, L.B., Miss Dixie Lee and Louis (the cat!).  <\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow, a short day to Moab, UT is planned.  Short in mileage but I hope to dally along the way and see\/photograph the scenery.  The Moab RV park is an RV resort and I might just sit there&#8230;work and explore.
