{"id":14344,"date":"2014-03-08T18:52:08","date_gmt":"2014-03-09T00:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/theroadhome\/?p=14344"},"modified":"2014-03-09T12:07:14","modified_gmt":"2014-03-09T18:07:14","slug":"falafel-etc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beardogco.com\/theroadhome\/2014\/03\/falafel-etc\/","title":{"rendered":"Falafel, etc."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Years ago&#8230;when I was young..ish&#8230;I lived in Los Angeles, California.<\/p>\n<p>There was Falafel!<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t know falafel, it is basically a savory chickpea fritter ball, i.e. chickpeas, garlic, parsley and other spices ground together to a paste and then deep fried.  In the middle east it is a popular street food.  Also in West Los Angeles where I partook in the early 1990&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>In Northwest Montana&#8230;not so much falafel.  I tried some &#8220;health food store&#8221; add water mixes.  Blech.  Left it behind.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, a trusted food blogger showed falafel and paved the way to this recipe:  <a target=\"Tori Avey\u2019s Falafel recipe\"  href =\"http:\/\/theshiksa.com\/2011\/01\/05\/falafel\/\" title=\"v\"> Tori Avey\u2019s Falafel recipe<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I jumped in the Jeep and went to town for garbanzo beans.<\/p>\n<p>My falafel plate:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar14\/Food5801.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar14\/Food5801.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My own Pita, Tori&#8217;s falafel on hummus with tahini sauce (<a target=\"Tahini sauce\"  href =\"http:\/\/theshiksa.com\/2010\/01\/20\/tahini-sauce\/\" title=\"Tahini sauce\">Tahini sauce<\/a>) and Israeli Salad(<a target=\"Israeli Salad\"  href =\"http:\/\/theshiksa.com\/2010\/01\/25\/israeli-salad-week\/\" title=\" Israeli Salad \"> Israeli Salad <\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>That salad. Tori calls it Israeli salad as her husband is from Israel &#8230; it is a mix that common in the Middle East and Mediterranean.<\/p>\n<p>So simple but so flavorful.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar14\/Feta5309.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Mar14\/Feta5309.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Greek Feta.<\/p>\n<p>REAL GREEK Feta.
