{"id":13251,"date":"2013-07-27T16:24:03","date_gmt":"2013-07-27T22:24:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/theroadhome\/?p=13251"},"modified":"2013-07-27T16:24:03","modified_gmt":"2013-07-27T22:24:03","slug":"yellow-jackets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beardogco.com\/theroadhome\/2013\/07\/yellow-jackets\/","title":{"rendered":"Yellow Jackets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2218.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2218.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I should probably have titled this post:  How to drown Yellow Jackets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2220.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2220.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>No, I am not sorry!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2221.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2221.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yellow Jackets reportedly have a role to play in gardens&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2223.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2223.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, they tend to turn aggressive mid-Summer through early Fall, i.e. until the first killing frost.<\/p>\n<p>This year, a hot summer following a mild winter, the yellow jackets have been plentiful.<\/p>\n<p>Stepping outside and\/or walking in the woods&#8230;constant buzzing!<\/p>\n<p>Bob, Bear and I are on the defensive&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2225.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2225.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>BBQ chicken suspended over soapy water = drowned yellow jackets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2226.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2226.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4-6 mason jars&#8230;in the yard and in the fringes of the woods&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>And then&#8230;AND THEN!!! &#8211; blog reader Steph emailed me about Bounce fabric softener sheets being a yellow jacket repelling force!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2227.jpg\" target=\"Large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/beardogco.com\/WPBlog\/blogimages\/Jul13\/yj2227.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bear and I made a quick trip to town to get the most fragrant Bounce sheets we could find.
