Black and White and Auggie

This afternoon, after plowing by my neighbor and a little shoveling by me!

Maybe 10 inches of new snow altogether.

The first of it was sleet/corn snow but the last was light and fluffy and beautiful.

The brothers Summers head out to the critter hunting grounds…

Bear took point. Auggie is under the motorhome on dry ground…supervising.

Home!

The warm house is sounding good about now!

We are in our little quiet wind-shadowed spot, sheltered from the NNE wind by the wrap around of Jewell Basin. It was quiet, despite reported winds in the 20-30 mph range. Cold at 19F but with no wind, not that bad. Our forecast for the next 7-10 days is colder, but no snow.

It is February – almost!

It is Montana.

No complaints!

Enjoying the snow!

Monday and Tuesday morning we enjoyed the sun.

By early Tuesday afternoon, it was cloudy and gray.

It was forecast to start snowing 11:00 p.m.-ish but at my house, it didn’t start until just after 5:00 a.m. today (Wednesday).

By midday there was a bit over 4 inches.

We enjoyed!

It is to continue snowing and get colder.

I’m very much hoping for enough snow to snowshoe. I have not snowshoed from the house this year or last year – that is just not acceptable.

Let it snow!

Enjoying the sun

Winter in Montana can be gray.

But today…today was clear, sunny, absolutely beautiful.

And we enjoyed.

Setting sun lighting the tree tops.

Alpenglow through the woods.

A fire in the woodstove.

Bear keeping watch to the North.

Auggie in his “cat cave” on a chair under the kitchen table.

Of note this week: Bear and Auggie both had vet appointments for routine checkups. Bear for his “senior” 6 month check, Auggie for his “kitten” 6 month check and to get microchipped. All was well with both – YEA! Auggie is 8.5 pounds and pronounced to be in stellar condition. Bear was said to be “in the best health of any older dog I see” – Dr. Clark’s words. I’m thrilled to have good reports for both and hopeful for a good and healthy 2014 for all of us.

Onward!!!

Sunshine and terror in the bathroom sink

It has been gray with freezing fog and the occasional sun break, but today was mostly sunny after starting with snow flurries that left less than half an inch of new snow.

It might not look like it to the east…

But overhead and to the west, blue sky!

Auggie hunted critters in the snow…

…and the Auggie-shark lied in wait to scare the unsuspecting intending to brush their teeth!
