Suddenly Winter

Suddenly, the outdoor palette changes from golden hues to stark …nearly black and white… colors of winter.

But indoors…

Warm, golden hues.

Bear and Auggie napping.

While outside…

The forecast falling snow…

… falls.

Suddenly Winter.

    Your photos are so peaceful.
I have to ask… will you be using the wood from the pile in your photo? I imagine you will need a lot more than that.
Stay safe, and enjoy the quiet of snowfall and Winter.

Thank you – I think my woods and my little house are peaceful and serene and I’m happy that comes through in the photos.

That pile of wood is slash … downfall branches and some rotten-ish tree parts. It will be burned outside or hauled away, i.e. it is “trash” wood. And you are only seeing the front bit – it goes back about 20 feet close to the same height.

I have firewood cut to length for my wood stove but I use primarily the electric baseboard heat in my little house. I use the stove for ambiance as in this little house, the wood stove can roast me out in no time! But, even if I used the wood stove and no electric, 4-5 cords of good firewood would be plenty. I typically burn 1-1.5 cords for my light use and I currently have about 4 cords split and stacked. (A cord is 4 x 4 x 8 or 128 cubic feet)

I agree with Karen, your house does look peaceful and cosy with the snow outside and the warm glow inside. And the boys relaxing! Hope you have a good winter this year!
