Easy long walk/short hikes:

•   AvalancheLake (2)
•  Rocky Point connects with the Lake MacDonald west shore trail – you can walk
    as far as you want (up to 8 miles to the end of the lake) turn around at any point. (11 and 8)

 

        Other activities from West Glacier:

•  West Glacier is home for several river raft companies -
  I've taken trips with all of the raft companies and enjoyed them all. The ½ day trip is the rapids section only and my favorite. If you have time for an all day or a dinner trip you get food and more time with the raft group and guides. I've always had a great time – the guides love the park and the outdoors and are knowledgeable about both and motivated to show everyone a good time. You ride in a bus to the “put in” point so 4-6 raft groups (6 people plus guide in each raft) launch together. If you do a fullday or dinner trip the entire bus group stops for meals together. So, if you are solo, this is not only a fun, interesting and exciting trip, but also an easy socializing trip – families, couples, sometimes other solo travelers.
•  Lake MacDonald and Lake MacDonald Lodge - visit, walk a bit - car parking and access to the lake and the lodge.
•  Apgar Village - a few shops, coffee shop/diner

 

• Many Glacier – Many Glacier Hotel
• Swiftcurrent Nature Trail is an easy walk
• There is a boat tour/ride on Lake Josephine
• Horse trail rides from here also

Going-to-the-Sun Road - Logan Pass

****Check with the park site - there are plans to work on the road and it may be closed - if open it is always subject to length/height vehicle restrictions so check that also.  It is a beautiful drive and not to be missed if possible.  At Logan Pass (the top) is a nice visitor center with park info/real restrooms as well as the Hidden Lake Lookout trailhead.  Although some elevation gain, it is a boardwalk.  Take warm clothes! I have skied/snowshoed here on 4th of July when it was tshirt/shorts weather in the valley.  You will have beautiful vistas, wildflowers and probably some wildlife along with you - goats for sure - actually they are Dahl sheep.   links to info on the road, it's current status and road history
